A Visit From Nina

My mom just came to visit for a little while. She was such a blessing! I've been able to take naps, gets some housework done (yea! Those hardwood floors finally got polished!), and work on these photos. For those of you who are wondering what a "Nina" is, it is my mother's name for herself now that she's a grandma. She says it sounds "younger" than grandma. So, Kevin's mom is grandma, and my mom is Nina. She's had so much fun (and so has Weslee) chasing Weslee around, spinning him around, playing cars, feeding him, and holding him while he sleeps (that won't last for much longer, I'm sure). We love our Nina and we're so glad she came to visit!

Random 9 month pictures of Weslee

So, these are all just random pictures of my cutie this past month. I can't believe how quickly he's growing up and how active he's become. He turns 10 months in just a matter of days, and then I'll be taking 10 month pictures. Some are from the bath (one of his favorite passtimes) and he's discovered the wonder of bubbles. Loves 'em. Some are his excitement at daddy coming home from work. They have a ritual where Kevin greets Weslee at the window singing his "Little Man" song. Weslee just lights up and claps and smiles for daddy's return. When Kevin comes in the door, we sing, "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home". (After posting those pictures, I realized just how much I need to clean those windows. Wow!) And, some are my attempt at 9 month pictures...but he is seriously hard to get a good photo shoot from anymore. He wiggles too much! By the way, the second picture is his classic "Zoolander" look. It's the "Blue Steel" look at it's finest. In the last month, I've taken dozens of pictures with this look on his face. He still hasn't really learned to smile for the camera, but at least he's graduated from the "mouth breather pose" sort of. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

So, I just turned 28. Some of you might say, "Whoa, that's old", but most of my friends know that I'm still young. I still feel like I'm 18 most of the time. Crazy how you get older, but you don't really feel like it...except that now I can't ride roller coasters without getting a little dizzy, my knees hurt after skiing or hiking too long, and I can't drink a Slurpy without getting a headache. Those are the only little things that whisper to me that time is slowly ticking on and that my body is getting older with each passing year. If it were left only up to my mind, I'd remain 18 forever. Anyway...February 3rd is my birthday. February 2nd brought these flowers to my doorstep. A beautiful vase of spring time in the middle of winter. A reminder that my mother and father love me and that they remembered me on my birthday. (February 1st brought my husband taking me to see Phantom of the Opera...the broadway musical). So...Happy Birthday to me!

Ouch!

Weslee's teething...again! This time he's cutting his two front teeth...and possibly a few more. It just looks painful, and by his face, you can tell that he's not very happy about it. All he wants is mom. He wants to be held and snuggled all day long. He's been cranky, and snotty, and drooling. But, I will say that cranky for Weslee is hardly anything compared to some babies. Even in the midst of teething, he mostly whimpers and hardly ever screams. (How did we ever get so lucky?) I feel bad for the guy! I remember how much it hurt to cut my wisdom teeth. I think we're all three excited about those little babies finally coming in.

The Joys of Eating

Ahhh...the joys of being able to feed yourself! Weslee loves food at least as much as I do...but he has a particular affinity for wearing food. He particularly likes to put the food in his ears, hair, and up his nose when possible. I, on the other hand, prefer for all of the food to go in my mouth. I don't like wearing food very much, which is probably why I wear an apron when I feed him. He also doesn't like the food to come off...which maybe is a good thing, since many of the things babies his age eat, turn into a thick paste that nothing but a full blown bath can remove. These particular pictures are after an episode with graham crackers, cheese and grapes. Appetizing, aren't they?

Weslee's Blessing

Weslee was blessed on December 30 in California. It was a special day because his cousin, Kyra, was also blessed. Kevin gave such a beautiful blessing. It was nice to have all of Kevin's siblings, and all of our nieces and nephews present, as well as both sets of grandparents and Teri's Sister. Several people came for Kevin's parents' mission farewell which also made the day very special. The last picture is a picture of everyone...all the siblings, all the grandkids, all the grandparents. Great day!

Sealing Weslee to Us

While we were down in California, we had the opportunity to have Weslee sealed to us...in the temple we were married in...the San Diego temple! It was so awesome...and great to have so much of the family there. Wes wore a cute little white tuxedo...although the bowtie didn't fit around his neck. Oh well. He was such a happy little guy on his big day! He smiled so much...it was so cute and echoed our own sentiments about having him as an eternal part of our family.
